Friday Friday gotta get down on Friday

Thursday, July 31, 2014

Oh weekend, how I've missed you! I am so glad to reunite with you and I hope you treat us right! Lets start it out with linking up with {{Amanda}} with all of our Friday favorites. Don't ask questions, just do it.

Favorite Song:
I don't know if it is an old song or new, but I love it and think it's catchy.

Favorite Recipe:
I love grilled wings! There are lot's of marinade recipes out there but this is my favorite:
2 cups coco cola
juice from 2 limes
1 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons (depending on how hot you like it) Sriracha
https://www.google.com/search?q=grilled+wings&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=6RbbU5iCD9WuyATzrIG4Cw&sqi=2&ved=0CAYQ_AUoAQ&biw=1366&bih=648#facrc=_&imgdii=_&imgrc=oL2RkBO2cSRSvM%253A%3BdTq3xz43ccSMDM%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fnowfeed.me%252Fwp-content%252Fuploads%252F2011%252F04%252FDSC_2864.jpg%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fnowfeed.me%252F2011%252F07%252Fasian-style-chicken-wings%252F%3B3008%3B2000

Let this simmer on the stove until it becomes thick and then allow it to cool before adding your wings. I usually just buy wings when they're on sale, make the marinade and then freeze it all together until I'm ready to eat them. So good!!

Favorite Purchase:
{{here}}

I'm not sure I will actually love the Kimono look on me, but I decided to jump on the band wagon and order one. I'm just waiting for it to arrive to see if I will be returning it or not.

Favorite Moment:
My husband was finally starting to feel human again so we tried out a new Mexican place around the corner. We had the BEST margaritas and dinner conversations. It is for sure going to be our new spot!

The BP Era.

Wednesday, July 30, 2014

You know what I'm talking about, the BP Era= Before Pinterest. Sometimes it is a hard concept for me to remember too. How did I find delicious recipes to whip up? Did people actually look in a cook book? My decorating ideas were a boring blend of any modern day decor I could score at Kohls or Hobby Lobby (Live, Laugh, Love bitches!). If it were not for pinterest I would have never discovered some of my favorite blogs. If it were not for pinterest my closet would be an embarrassment, actually I take that one back, my closet is still an embarrassment, but I have high hopes for it one day. If it were not for pinterest I wouldn't be living in this 4 story mansion I made out of 3 wooden pallets and a bottle of gold glitter... #DIY!
{{Via}}
But seriously, I would also like a wedding do-over, don't get me wrong, I loved our wedding. That being said, we were in no place to afford a wedding planner (although we tried to win one with an amazing video of Taylor and I dancing in drag... wanna see it??), so all of my wedding decor and ideas were solely based off of magazines and other people's weddings (17 year olds are gasping in disgust at the very thought of this out of date tradition!!!).  If I could do it over, there are so many inexpensive details I would do.
{{via}}
And my theme would be completely different. I would still have a fall wedding, but the decor would be more shabby chic, less country like.

More this {{via}}
This was from our wedding, I loved the décor, I would just do it differently with the endless ideas on Pinterest.
My dress would have been different, and I would have worn a veil. I would have a whole pinterest board dedicated to my dress, and another one with my wedding day boot camp workouts (that would probably never be put to use!). Oh yes, I would have all the wedding boards! I was so laid back because I just didn't want to put the effort into it. But, with pinterest... Well.. I probably would have went full bridezilla. The ideas would have been right at my finger tips, along with the stress of molding my day into the exact vision of a perfect, pinterest wedding. But I would so do it. I think.
Yes Please! {{Via}}
Then again, eloping on the beach doesn't sound half bad either, you can find that shit on pinterest too.
Yeah, this looks good too! {{Via}}

Were you married in the BP Era? Would you do it all over too?

One thing I would most certainly keep the same in my wedding do-over is the cake. I mean it tasted good and it described me and my husband perfectly!

Weekend-y things.

Monday, July 28, 2014

I had big plans to knock off some items on our Memphis bucket list, unfortunately my husband had other plans. He has been away for the week at the Coast Guard academy for schooling and had really been feeling awful while there. I didn't really know how bad until Friday when I jokingly said "Well I guess it will just be a new tradition of ours, going to the ER after your homecoming" and he responded very seriously "I guess so". So that is exactly what happened. I picked him up from the airport around 10 p.m. on Friday night and to the ER we went.  They pumped him full of fluids and did a cat scan which determined he was suffering from a case of food poisoning. So after he laid sleeping on the bed getting antibiotics (my butt went numb sitting in an uncomfortable chair while watching Roseanne until 4:30 in the morning), we were cleared to leave!

He was so mad I was taking pictures, I had to entertain myself somehow!
 We left the hospital around 5:00 a.m. and my husband decided he might have an appetite for the first time all week. I was exhausted but there was no way I would turn down his plea for IHOP. I'm pretty sure we looked like crack heads sitting in that booth so early in the morning. My dark circles were extra heavy along with some serious bags, and my poor husband looked like he was rocking the track marks from the IVs they put in both his arms.

Needless to say, we slept most of the day away Saturday, we took Stella for a long walk that evening (the antibiotics really kicked in quick for husband) and then grabbed a bite to eat before retreating to the couch to binge watch The Walking Dead. On Sunday I put the husband on strict bed rest while I worked a little during the day. As soon as I left he was up tinkering around the house, doing exact opposite of what I instructed. He told me it was OK because he took a 2 hour nap that afternoon. I made some awesome stuffed manicotti for dinner (that's for the recipe BFF) and grilled artichokes and then we relaxed on the couch to end the weekend. One of us may have drank a bottle of wine while doing this too, and one of us may have pouted that they couldn't drink wine because of the antibiotics they were on. No need to name names though!!
I take professional pictures...

Made In Memphis!

Thursday, July 24, 2014

As soon as I returned home from Indiana I found out some very good friends of mine are working in Nashville for a couple of months (they're traveling nurses), and they were coming to Memphis for a free concert and wanted to know if I wanted  to go. Free Concert? Duh! The concert was sponsored by Budweiser so we knew a cab was needed. On our way down there we used the Uber App off of our phones. Have you tried this app? It's quicker and cheaper than a cab, and all money transactions are electronic through smart phones.

Moon Taxi was the main band playing that night, they're a local band of Nashville that my girlfriends really like. I was really kind of blown away when we walked in and thought for sure my girls had lied to me about it being free. We were given beer tickets and there was free food. The girls assured me it was totally free, all you needed to do was RSVP! Budweiser is holding these summer festivals all over so I highly suggest looking in your area! The only thing that was kind of a bummer was that the only beer served is Budweiser, as in heavy bud, no other Budweiser products. So if you can't handle Budweiser, I suggest bringing a flask!
Moon Taxi put on a 3D show!

 It only took me two days to gain hearing in my ears back. And as far as recovering? I'll let you know, there was a lotttt of drinking that week for this old lady!

Summer summer Summer time!

Tuesday, July 22, 2014

 I feel like I have been so busy these last two weeks, so when I do have a moment a free time all I want to do is relax on the couch, while watching the food network. It has seriously become an obsession, I just lay there and drool and wishfully hope if I close my eyes and open them, the food they're cooking will magically appear on my table. No luck with that yet though.

So last weekend I headed back home to Indiana for a wedding. It was a short trip, but a good one. I arrived in town late Thursday night, drank a beer with my dad (he had a bag of pork rinds and a cold one waiting for me!), and went to bed. Friday morning I was awakened bright and early my by my nephew Noah. That afternoon I headed over to my old salon and visited with my favorite stylist while getting my hair done for a much better price then I would here in Memphis (and I KNEW she would do a good job!). The fair was in town this weekend so that night we headed down there to people watch and eat junk food for dinner.
When the fair AND aunt Heather are in town, we eat ice cream for dinner.

Later that night my best friend called and told me she had a sitter so we decided to hit up some of the hole in the wall bars with her sister. I'm convinced if Breanna and I lived closer I would be super skinny from all the calories I would burn from laughing!

Breanna's husband is a gem!

Saturday was the wedding, since the husband was visiting with his family in St. Louis, I took Breanna as my date (duh, who else?), it was a really nice wedding and reception, but after dinner Breanna and I decided the coffee we chugged before the wedding was kicking in (remember we had a late night the night before) and decided to go out again for drinks and to catch up. We chose the bar I used to work at when I lived in town. I'm so glad we did, because as Breanna was heading to the little ladies room, she ran into an old friend of mine.  I hadn't spoke to this friend in over 2 years and it was really good catching up (and yes there were tears and an over dramatic reunion in the middle of the bar).  As always Breanna and I ended our night with a sleepover session that kept us far too late giggling like middle schoolers! It's my favorite part about visiting with her when I go home!
Sunday my mom and brother in law cooked some delicious fajitas for a family get together. After dinner my mom and rode up to my friend Christena's to check out her brand new home. It is such a nice home and I am so happy for her and her family because they have worked SO hard for it. Monday I headed back to Memphis a little early to try and avoid the bad weather. It was a short, but sweet visit, but I was really happy to be back in my own bed snuggling with my Stella.
Looking rough after going out TWO nights in a row. But my Godson is super cute!

 If you made it through this whole post, go have ice cream for dinner!

Social Media made me hate you.

Wednesday, July 9, 2014

Before I start this rant, let me just begin with contradicting myself. I love "meeting" new people from blogging. I love that they blog about their lives and give you a sneak peek of what's going on in their lives. Lifestyle blogs make me happy.

That being said, people I used to really like in "real life", drive me nuts on social media. I think it is mainly because I like their public persona (you know the ones with manners and a filter?). In real life someone might seem some what educated, but they certainly don't proove that in their social media life. For example, they type in Ebonics or slang for everything "fo sho, lbvs, smh", if I have to google what the hell your status means, you are probably on my list of people I think are douche bags in social media life.
https://www.google.com/search?q=horrible+typing+on+facebook&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=f328U9uZOI2TyASdo4LIAg&sqi=2&ved=0CAcQ_AUoAg&biw=1301&bih=617#q=ignorant+facebook+statuses&tbm=isch&facrc=_&imgdii=_&imgrc=0gt97q8kLLwtfM%253A%3BFG3CxhbgwdAAmM%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fstatic.someecards.com%252Fsomeecards%252Fusercards%252FMjAxMi05NWRjMTUzNjc2YjVhZjNi.png%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.someecards.com%252Fusercards%252Fviewcard%252FMjAxMi1hNjgyNzRiNTk4YTI5YWM1%3B420%3B294

The next person I've decided I can't stand on social media, the selfie queen. Now, don't get me wrong, you could go through my phone or snap chats and see a million selfies, but I DO NOT post every single one. Nor do I make videos of myself and post them (my newest pet peeve, no one wants to see you chewing your food).

Next up, the victim. something is always wrong with you, and of course its never your fault. We know you in  real life, so we know there is nothing wrong with you, and if there is, it is your fault.

I know there is a ton of post out there describing the type of people on your news feed, and that's not what I'm trying to do. I'm just saying, if you I accept your friend request or start "following" you on social media, that probably means I like you, don't change that because you're an obnoxious over sharer on social media. Am I the only one who feels this way?

Memphis Bucket List

Tuesday, July 8, 2014

Since the husband and I move around frequently (ish) with his job, I've decided we need to see as much as Memphis as we can.  If you google things to do in Memphis there is actually quite a bit to see. So in no particular order.

Sunday Funday!

Saturday, July 5, 2014

Hey Hey Hey!! This holiday weekend has been SO uneventful for me!! This may be the most social thing I do all weekend, and I am OK with that! So let's link up! Join me {{here}} or {{here}}!

1. What is your favorite genre of music?
I have horrible taste in music, but I'm just going to say in general, I like pop music, or country.
2. What is your favorite genre of movies?
Along with my sappy love songs, I love a good girly drama romance.
3. Do you watch reality TV? If so what was the first show you remember watching?
I LOVE reality TV, it's a guilty pleasure. I think it all started with "Laguna Beach" if you can consider that "reality" TV.

4. Who is an actress you’d want to be BFF’s with?
Does Ellen DeGeneres count as an actress? She's my favorite, and she played "Dory" in finding nemo so that counts as an actress.
5. Who is an actor you’d be happy to be stuck on an island with?
Charlie Hunnam, for sure.
Have a great Sunday!

Happy 4th of July!

Thursday, July 3, 2014

I hope everyone has big exciting plans for the weekend! I plan on looking for fireworks from my backyard this year, pretty exciting stuff I know! Of course I actually get the holiday off for once, and my husband has to work it! Typical. So before I go on sulking about this let's link up with Amanda over {{here}} for Friday favorites.

Favorite Pin

My best friend pinned this as a summer idea for her kids to do, but I immediately sent her a message letting her know we would be doing this when I come in town. I don't care if I am almost 30, a water balloon slip and slide sounds fantastic.

Favorite Song

I am not ashamed to admit I have a horrible taste in music, the sappier the better! This song is older, but I just love the Fray!
