Things that didn't kill me.

Tuesday, September 9, 2014

I have recently tried two new (to me) things, either one of them could have ended up with the result of my death. Thankfully, that was not the case. I know that's a pretty serious statement, so you're probably wondering what I willingly tried that could have potentially killed me, right? Well hold on a second and I will tell you!

The first one being UBER.  You can download the Uber app on your smart phone. I have always been a taxi cab queen (DON'T drink and drive folks!!), so when someone told me about Uber I was excited and skeptical all at the same time. I mean what if this rando driver is a serial killer? Well I guess that was a risk I was taking with cabs too... But with Uber, once you "page" for a driver, it shows you a picture of who is going to pick you up and what kind of car they are in. You can also track exactly where they are and how long they will take to get to you. The great thing about Uber is that you, as a rider, rate your driver. So if the person coming to pick you  up has poor ratings, you can decline. That being said, the drivers can rate you as a customer as well (so don't be an asshole). Overall, Uber is faster and cheaper. They only downside I have seen thus far is that during busy times they can charge more and you place a bid so to speak. I thought they were asking for four dollars extra, turns out they were asking to charge four times the ride fare. That ride hurt the bank account. The plus side is that if you are a new customer you can use the promo code "FIRSTRIDE30" and receive a 30 dollar credit, and I didn't die.

The next thing I tried that didn't kill me (yet), was T-25. I started it on Monday, and while I did learn exercise won't kill me, I also discovered I am really uncoordinated. I think T-25 probably took me more like 45 minutes, instead of 25. I had to do a lot of pausing and rewinding to try and figure out what type of moves they were doing. It really wasn't a terribly hard concept, I'm just that uncoordinated. So I might not of been doing the moves exactly right, but my heart rate was definitely up, I was sweating disgustingly, and I was pretty dang sore the next day. Sounds like a win in my book.
Michelle Tanner has more coordination than me...

Have you tried anything new lately?

Nashville and the Savor flavor.

Ever since the husband and I moved to Memphis, we have been dying to get to Nashville and check it out. It just so happens that two good friends of mine are traveling nurses and are currently working in Nashville. Since Taylor and I are going to be super busy the next couple of months, we hopped in the car Friday and off we went to visit our friends in Nashville.

Stella ridin dirty in the back seat.

We arrived around 8:00 pm at the apartment my friends are staying at. I decided to be a good friend and walk their dog, since the girls had been at work since 7 that morning. This was a horrible idea because that little shit got loose and took of running. Do you know how stressful it is to chase a dog when you are out of shape and your anxiety is at an all time high because, hello, you just lost someone else's dog. Thankfully he hid underneath a bush where I could corner him, and all was well again. Once the girls arrived home we headed out for the night. We started at printers alley for a late dinner at this little English pub. The food was really good, and of course the drinks weren't too bad either!

After that we made our way towards Broadway, which is where all the tourist go. I hadn't researched a lot about Nashville before we left, I just kind of relied on my two girlfriends to show us around. They were great tour guides, showing us all the famous spots before we settled in to one bar for live music. I'm not sure the name of the final bar we stopped at. If you have ever been to Nashville, you know the bars kind of all run together after a while.

On Saturday we were all a little slow to moving around. After much needed coffee and showers, we went to check out the Loveless cafe for brunch. There was about a 45 minute wait (I'm told there is always a wait), but they have cute little shops all around to check out while you wait. The loveless cafe is known for it's homemade biscuits, they make up to seven thousand a day!! The Bloody Marys came with cute little mason jar souvenirs! I highly suggest this place, and if you like fried green tomatoes, theirs might have been my all time favorite.

He is so cool, he wears 2 pairs of sunglasses...
After brunch we headed over to the "Live on the green" for the Ingrid Michealson concert. I absolutely love Ingrid's music, and the fact that it was a free concert, well, it pretty much made my day (the rude crowds, not so much)! Since I had to work Sunday morning, we grabbed a quick bite to eat with the girls and then said our goodbyes. Nashville was so much fun, and I can't wait to go back and explore more soon!

Linking up with Biana!

Labor Day Weekend

Wednesday, September 3, 2014

I think I am still recovering from this weekend. Anyone else having this problem? Taking off so many days in a row can mess with ya! But I'm not complaining, I'll take a little off routine over working any day! There was so much to love about this weekend, starting with having my husband home for 4 consecutive days in a row. Then, my best friend and her husband showed up with the most adorable kids in all the land. It was a great weekend. They arrived late on their first night, by the time I got home from work everyone was in bed except the husband and Breanna. It didn't take long for my husband to be over girl talk and head to bed himself. Breanna and I soon retreated to the couch in our PJs for a few adult beverages and girl time.

On Friday we woke up and headed to the Memphis Zoo. There was a cuteness overload at the bird exhibit when Eva said "Hi bird, I Eva".
Waiting for the snake show to start.
After the Zoo we headed to Beale Street for a little dancing and food. I'm not crazy about the food on Beale but Johnny G's has some realllllly amazing greens and potato salad! After all the excitement of the day we decided to grill out, blow bubbles, and practice our chalk art skills!
The kiddos loved the Music!
Saturday started off as a lazy, rainy day. Breanna and I decided to go have some girly time that afternoon so the boys could go out that night. We decided to go to Merle Norman for  a little makeover session. Followed by wine and Sushi for lunch! We were having a such a good time, we thought bloody Mary's and darts were a must!  Well to be honest, bloody marys are always a must when Breanna and I are together. We finally decided to head home and relieve the boys of their baby duties. Luckily there was so much fun being had at home, the boys decided to have a pizza and movie night in with the kids, and let us go back out. We spent the night at fox and the hound, playing pool and shuffle board!

Sunday was a little rough for Breanna and I, but we trucked through to take the kids to the Pink Palace. I have secretly been dying to go there, but was told it was really geared more towards kids. So this was a perfect opportunity. It was a good time, my favorite (and this kids' favorite) was the 3d meerkats movie! After the museum, we dropped this guys off on Beale street for a little Bromance time. While the guys listened to music, Breanna and I hung out with the kids until it was bedtime. After the kids settled down, we popped in the best chick flick of all time, Beaches. Breanna had never seen it, and I had been dying to watch it together. If you haven't seen it, grab your girls and watch!

On Monday, it was time for goodbyes. I honestly don't know who was more sad to see this day come. Even though Breanna and I are used to them, they never get easier. But I love that our men have become such great friends over the years as well. Not mention those cute little nuggets of theirs! It really was such a fun weekend and I can't wait for the next time we are all together.

Confess yo Self.

Tuesday, September 2, 2014

This is my first time linking up with Kathy at Vodka and Soda for confessions. Does that count as my first confession??

Vodka and Soda
When I wrote the title of this post I sang the song "express yourself" by Madonna. (That is confession number 2...)
Put your love to the test... yep Madonna knows..
I confess that I woke up Sunday morning feeling rough. And then I noticed a gnarly (do people still say gnarly?) bruise on my side. I have no recollection of where it could have came from. I confess that I am a sleep walker though. One time, I was at a friend's house when they heard a loud crash. They found me at the bottom of the stairs. My friends freaked and asked if I was OK, I told them I had to use the restroom, but instead of using the restroom, I crawled back into bed and mumbled something about my back hurting (I never really woke up). When I woke up the next morning my back was covered in bruises and my friends told me what had happened. What?

I confess that I am a creep. My husband and I have been taking advantage of being home together in the evenings and taking Ms. Stella on walks. I love looking at all the different homes and being somewhat of a peeping tom. Everyone is nosey to some extent, AmIright?

I confess the gypsy sisters are back on TV and I have been so excited to watch those train wrecks. Conversation between the hubs and I:
Husband: why do they all look so Trashy.
Me: Because they are..
Husband: No, but even their bone structure looks trashy.
Me: ... um.. well.. gypsies babe...

How do you even answer that??

You don't. You just call it quits after that. Happy Wednesday.
