I can not believe I am leaving in just a couple days to see my husband. Hurry up Wednesday! It is a little bit nerve racking when I think about seeing my best friend for the first time in 7 months; but I get butterflies just thinking about that first kiss with him! EEEK!
This past weekend I had the pleasure of spending some quality time with some of my favorite people. I have lived in this town for over 4 years now and I have always heard how amazing the firework show downtown on the river was (it was in America's top 10 last year!), but I never had a desire to go down there and fight the sea of people who were also trying to watch this spectacular show. I mean, is it just me, or do people get uglier and uglier the older we get? What happened to manners? Please and thank you, excuse me and I'm sorry? Maybe it has always been that way and my patience has just shortened the older I have gotten. Anyways, a friend and I decided I had to go see the show this year since it is my last year here. Thankfully some great friends of mine invited us to tag along on their boat to watch the show. Minus the lack of a bathroom on the boat, it was definitely the way to go. We didn't have to fight for parking, or spend hours trying to leave after the show was over. Not to mention these friends have the cutest little girl ever who is getting so big. She is talking up a storm these days, and the fact that she says my name so well, makes me very happy :o).

They didn't disappoint. |
On Saturday I packed a bag and met my same friends at the boat ramp for a little more fun in the sun. On my way to the boat ramp I noticed the line of cars trying to get off the island, and I remember thinking to myself,
HAHA SUCKERS. It really was such a nice day to be out soaking in the sun (just kidding I'm still as pale as powder), I even got in the water and swam a little ( I couldn't let an almost 2 year old show me up). Once it was time for the sharks to start looking for dinner it was time to head home. As I rounded the corner from where I was parked, karma hit me like a ton of bricks. I was at the end of a very long line of traffic. No biggie, I had Gatorade and snacks in the car with me. After sitting in the slow moving line for about 10 minutes my gas light came on.
Shit. I couldn't even see the light I needed to turn at to get my off the island yet. That's when I started to sweat, no literally, I turned the air off to conserve gas and it was a hot one that day. Eventually my turn came and got through the light, I was so close to getting off the island to a gas station. Then Karma came back for round two. The drawbridge was up and I was stuck in another endless line of traffic. I started to panic when I could smell the gas fumes and text a friend that worked on the island to see if there was a gas station on the island. Ha, why would these rich people need a gas station on their island? Their cars run on caviar and grey poupon or something like that. I pulled over at the park to look for my triple A card. My sweet friend refused to let me call and sent one of her co-workers to my rescue. That poor guy had to set in that same long line of traffic, just to bring my dumbass a can of gas. I like him. After that I high-tailed it off that damn island and kept myself home for the rest of the weekend (packing for that trip of course!). I hope you had a great 4th of July weekend, and if you didn't learn anything new, take it from me, to always check how much gas is in the car!
